Mizan Alkebulan-Abakah, Co-Director

MIzan has worked for over 15 years as a community organizer and youth development professional. Her commitment to social justice has fueled her work as a crisis intervention specialist, health educator, curriculum coach, multi-modal workshop facilitator, community researcher and qualitative and quantitative evaluator.

 

Mizan has supported the institutional development of many public and private schools, as well as non-profit/community based organizations such as Leadership Excellence, Youth Together and Ujima Adult & Family Services.

 

She has a B.A. in Social Science from San Francisco State University as well as numerous certificates in pregnancy/STD prevention, mental health and wellness consultation. As wife, mother of four and lover of life, Mizan is currently pursuing graduate studies in Public Health.

Sizwe Andrews-Abakah, Co-Director

Sizwe is a father, husband and youth organizer that has worked in the Bay Area since 2001. The foundation of his  youth development experience is K-12 academic instruction at many public and private schools such as Luxor Academy, Roots of Unique Awareness and the School of Social Justice. In addition, he has also mentored scores of youth looking for alternatives to "street life" and abusive family situations.

As Conflict Resolution Coordinator at Skyline High School, Sizwe developed innovative and interactive approaches to  resolving conflicts, training peer mediators, conducting anger management sessions, and teaching classroom management skills.

Sizwe utilizes his skills as MC and Hip Hop producer to build youth entrepreneurialism, critical thinking and empowerment. Passionate, diligent, committed, and focused are just a few words that describe this dynamic individual whose love for truth is a refreshing example of holistic manhood.
