Art for the Movement is a collaboration between Black Cultural Zone, Oakland Museum, Oakland Art Murmur, RBA Creative and Spearitwurx. Our collaboration began as a effort to honor, document, preserve, and protect Protest Art that was created after the police killing of George Floyd and Brianna Taylor in Oakland. These conversations honor the legacy and struggle to protect Black Lives and Black Art Invited Panelists include Zakiyah Harris of Artsweb, Senay Alkebulan of Madow Futur, Senay Dennis of Aerosoul and the Black Artist Guild, and Ashara Ekundayo of Artists as First Responder. POWERFUL PARENT CONFERENCE
The Powerful Parent Conference is an annual convening of Bay Area families of color. Parenting is often something that is done privately, in our own homes, behind closed doors. With this Conference, we have made it public in order to bring to the foreground the joy and pains, the challenges and healing, the insecurities and the abundance of our collective efforts to make us stronger, more resilient and more vibrant. STRETCH MARKS BLACK MAMAS & DAUGHTERS BRUNCH
Stretch Marks is a convening of Black Mamas and Daughters on Mothers Day weekend. These facilitated conversations about Love Life and Liberation support inter-generational wellness and can build meaningful exchange of the wisdom and excitement of Black women and Girls. HEALING HIKES Healing Hikes are weekly gathering of community members in the beautiful Oakland Hills. These hikes creates safe space for folks to build a culture of wellness through authentic dialogue, yoga, mindfulness, and team building challenges. These hikes support stress resiliency and build social supports for those dealing with trauma, grief and the impacts of social toxins. Please contact us for this weeks hike location and meeting time.
